Le Poggiòle Farmhouse
In the “Decameron” novels by Boccaccio Caterina is the protagonist of this delightful story. She is in love with the young Ricciardo and connives a cunning way to be with him by complaining to her parents that her bedroom is too hot. They agree to move her bed to the balcony where it is cool and she can fall asleep while listening to the nightingale! Ricciardo climbs onto the balcony and into bed with Caterina, but they are caught together naked in an amorous embrace. Caterina’s father insists on an immediate and rightful marriage and they live happily ever after.
